Light Blue Amber Purple
A blue-shifted amber-purple striker that yields purple in an oxidizing flame and opaque sea-green in a reducing flame. Refer to Amber Purple family techniques.
Outcomes
-
Purple strike in oxidizing flameWork in a sharp oxidizing flame to develop purples. Kiln strike at 1125–1150°F for ~60 min or flame strike after cooling for uniform color.
-
Opaque sea green when reducedA reducing flame shifts the color to an opaque sea green instead of striking to purple — an alternative look available by intentional reduction.
Working notes
- Never work in a reducing flame if purple is the desired outcome — reduction yields opaque sea green instead.
- Burn off any silver haze at high heat before striking to purple.
