Lunar Glass
Billow Blue Glass
A 33 COE soft borosilicate striker with dark blue in solid work; blown hollow reveals light blue with wisps of green and yellow. Flame chemistry shifts results: more oxygen for bright blues, reduction for deeper complex tones.
Outcomes
-
Dark blue with rich layered tones in solid/thick workUse more oxygen for brighter, richer blues. Glass is very soft and strikes readily on cooling — minimal heat needed to melt.
-
Light blue with swirling wisps of green and yellow in hollow/blown workBlow hollow to reveal lighter blue base with cloud-like swirling patterns of greens and yellows. Strikes out as it cools.
-
Deeper, more complex blue with layered effectsA reduction flame produces deeper, more complex color effects and patterns compared to oxidizing results.
Working notes
- Glass is very soft — use minimal heat to avoid overworking.
- Experiment with flame chemistry; oxidizing vs. reducing yields significantly different results.
